Get Paid to Test Websites

Get paid to test websites frugal lifestyle

Get paid to test websites, there are a number of company that pay you to test websites and apps before they are released. I see a lot of blog posts promising $50/hour testing websites. Selling the idea that you can earn a full time income from testing websites.

However this is an exaggeration, the amount that you can earn is based on the number of tests available and if your profile matches the scope of the test.

One of the sites that I use is usertesting.com, they are a legitimate site and pay weekly via PayPal. I have never had a payment issue with them and tests are regularly available.

    How does usertesting.com work?

After registering on the site, you complete your profile. Presented to you on the dashboard is the available tests. Some of the tests are for Windows/Mac computers and some are for mobile apps iOS and Android. When you select a test you have to complete a short survey to check your suitability. In my experience this is where you get screened out of a lot of the available tests. At first it looks like a lot of tests are available, but you don’t qualify for them all.

The testing is relatively straight forward. You need a computer with a microphone and somewhere quiet to record the testing.

The recording is done via a Chrome extension with is active while you are recording.

The test consist of you speaking aloud your thoughts as you navigate and complete tasks on the website you are testing. The tests take around 10-15 minutes.

    How much can you earn?

Each test pays $10, which is not too bad for 15 minutes of easy work.  I can only talk from my experience and earnings. You can make $50-100 depending on what tests are available. I don’t always have the time to check in with usertesting.com as frequently as I could do so I miss out on some tests. Therefore you could potentially earn more if you checked back on the site. They do also email you when tests are available.

Is it worth signing up for usertesting.com?

    The answer is a YES.

It’s free to join, the tests don’t take long and they pay on time.
