A simple tomato sauce is a fantastic and versatile sauce to be able to make. Throw it in some pasta or on a pizza, it freezes excellently so you can always have some on hand for a quick mid-week meal.
Grabbing a ready made sauce from the supermarket may seem convenient, but it is also expensive and can contain a lot of salt and sugar. Making your own sauce, saves you money and also provides a healthy alternative.
Once you have the basics down you can start adding things to your sauce to tailor it to your liking. If you like it spicy, add a chopped chilli. Swap out the basil for oregano. You get the idea.
This tomato sauce can also be made in bulk and frozen, so it is available whenever you need it.
